Electronics for my Mustang?!?

FOLLOW US SHARINGClearly there are no electronics on the mustang. Except the PCM for the new Coyote engine. But given my background in electronics engineering (and not mechanical), I decided to start tinkering with some things I can do to have a nice setup I can expand, and have it readily available for other people to install if there is interest. The single board is based on Cypress’s PSoC family of controllers. I chose them given their flexibility, and the fact I can get some crazy implementations done, even future-proofing the design. So I can add internally what I need. […]

Installing the rear-end suspension and new axle

FOLLOW US SHARINGThe rear-end is in…yay… Nice on the rear axle. the powder coating turned out great and the suspension fits nicely. Here are some pictures. Took a while to install, the darn thing is too heavy and there is no room in my garage to navigate and align. the rear suspension from R&C was perfect though. I still have the cross member to fit, but will wait until the engine and drivetrain assembly are in so I can align the angle before I bolt it in. Other than that, pretty straight forward. Once this is in and done, i will […]

Assembling the front end

FOLLOW US SHARINGIt looks sooo cool. Can’t wait to get done. I took most of the last weekend to get the front end assembled with the new bolt kits and components which has been sitting around the garage. I wanted to assemble the body now to make sure I have everything accounted for, and as I get ready to start routing the brake lines, fuel lines, getting the engine, etc… I needed to make sure the whole thing offers no surprises.   So far so good. My full car bolt kit is a perfect investment too. Will add more detailed […]

Rust Removal

FOLLOW US SHARINGI just got back from checking up on an experiment I was running for removing rust from old metal I took off the car, and the results were absolutely amazing. I was skeptical, but figures I’d give it a shot. Last night, while I was working on the car, I came across a lot of the metal, brackets, old screws, etc…which I removed from the car during disassembly. My intent was to actually go through and figure out what I need so I can go out and buy replacements. the last thing I want is to work on […]

Drivetrain Calculations

FOLLOW US SHARINGToday, I dropped off the rear axle to get it rebuilt, powder coated, and reinforced. It is the original 9″ rearend, with 2.75 gear ratio. I will post the details of that build when I get it. But I will say I am changing the ratio to 4.10:1. In order to figure out the whole drivetrain, I did a quick search online for a drivetrain calculator and came across this here. I am giving all credit to the author. I just took it and modified it to fit the resto-mod I am doing, add a few formatting and […]
